Giuseppe Maccario and Michele Luciano from Campania, driving an Autobianchi A112 in the fifth group, won the XVI edition of Baia delle Ninfe, the seventh round of the CIREAS Italian Historic Car Regularity Championship, which took place this weekend in Sardinia, between Alghero and its beautiful surroundings. The duo from Avellino of the team Nettuno Bologna has closed all the tests scheduled in the rich weekend organized by the Automobile Club Sassari trying to make mistakes as little as possible getting just 355.30 penalties with an average of 3.2 that are worth the initials in the roll of honor of an event entered for the first time in the Tricolor CIREAS. Bad luck for the brothers Alberto and Giuseppe Scapolo from Padua who, on their Fiat 508, had made good and bad time in Saturday's trials, but then committed a driving error on Sunday's trial n. 38, when the adrenalin for the hard-fought trials on the kart track was released and they slipped in tenth position in the general classification. For them, however, was intact the primacy in 2 grouping.

"The race - said Maccario - went very well. It was very pleasant, especially on Saturday, while today it was much harder. We have crossed wonderful landscapes that are the real added value of our memories in this race beyond the result. We made the difference in the Kartodromo trials where the very tight passages allowed us to express ourselves at our best. Even on Saturday we made a good average of 2.9 and it was great fun".
Second place for Attilio Bonetti from Brescia, navigated by Gianluca Cioffi, who came to Sardinia with the beautiful Alfa Romeo Spider Veloce of the fifth group of the Scuderia Emmebi 70 from Lumezzano (Bs), who finished just 65.36 points behind the winners. Third step of the podium and supremacy of the 4th Group for Massimo Bisi from Piacenza with Claudio Cattivelli on the beautiful Porsche 356 S90 of the Italian Porsche Register that already on Saturday had traveled at a very interesting average. The winners of the 7th Grouping are the Bolognese Massimo Dalleolle navigated by Alessandro Traversi from Marche, who appeared at the Baia delle Ninfe on a profitable Autobianchi A 112 Abarth with which they obtained an excellent fourth place overall. The driver Antonio D'Antinone from Monza, assisted by his wife Amalia De Biase, complained of traffic problems on the Porsche 911T with which they still won a fifth place overall and a podium in the fifth group. Fighting for the championship in the under 30 category is the driver from Bobbio, Roberto Paradisi, navigated by Marco Rossi, who on a Fiat Mirafiori 131S got the first position in the sixth group and an excellent, in terms of championship, sixth place overall. Seventh are Antonio Faccini and Silvia Dal Santo on the Mg Midget of the 5th group of Verona Historic, eighth overall but first in the fierce 3rd group are Alessandro Virdis and Silvia Giordo on Porsche 356A Speedmaster. Completing the top ten are Roberto Ricci and Marco Frascaroli of Scuderia Grifone in an Alfa Romeo 33 in Group 9 of Scuderia Grifone, while the Scapolo brothers in a Fiat 508C complete the top ten. First in Group 8 were Gabriella Scarioni and Ornella Pietropaolo who also won the ladies' cup in an Austin Mini HLE ahead of Federica Bignetti Bignetti and Laura Ciatti in an Alfa Romeo Giulietta Spider in Group 3.
The Sicilians from Campobello di Mazara in the province of Trapani, Angelo Accardo and Paolino Messina in a Fiat 500 Sporting, excelled among the crews competing in the modern classic regularity events, with just 148 penalties, even fewer than the winners of the historic cars. We participated with a modern car," explained Accardo and Messina, "to try to pass on the passion for regularity to the younger generation and to show that you can approach this discipline even with not particularly prestigious cars.
In the tourist regularity event, success went to the Lagherardesca team's Mauro Bianchi and Giovanni Nesti in a Lancia Y4WD.

The competition directed by the international race director Fabrizio Fondacci was sponsored by the Region of Sardinia, the Municipality of Alghero, the Alghero Foundation, the Chamber of Commerce of Sassari and the Municipality of Bosa, as well as by the numerous commercial partners who support the event.

"The municipality of Alghero - said the mayor - has bet a lot on motorsport. For this reason I want to thank not only the sportsmen and women who have arrived this weekend for the Baia delle Ninfe, but also the Automobile Club Sassari and Aci Sport for their work in promoting our territory".

"Breathtaking scenery and beautiful weather," explained ACI Sassari president Giulio Pes di San Vittorio, "emphasised the success of the event. The presence of many crews coming from the peninsula is a great success for us. These events not only add value to our land, but also have an important impact on the territory in 'shoulder' periods like this at the beginning of the summer season. After the great commitment of the Rally d'Italia, ACI Sassari is proving that it has the professionalism to be able to hold another Italian championship race like this one just a few days later. In July we will also have another great event: the Alghero Scala Piccada hill-climb race. We hope to have again a scenario and a climate like the one of this weekend".

The next appointment of the CIREAS is scheduled in Avellino on the weekend of 26 and 27 June.
