The 2022 route

The route of the Gran Premio Nuvolari represents the synthesis of Italian excellence.

It starts with a novelty: on Thursday 15 September, after the pre-race checks and scrutineering, there will be a night prologue, a 7.5 km urban route through the streets of Mantua. It will be the City's greeting reserved for foreign participants from all over the world.

On Friday 16 September the historic cars will set off from Piazza Sordello, the heart of the Lombard city. They will drive through the picturesque roads of Emilia, until they reach the Modena Autodrome: break for lunch and time trials. It will then continue on the Apennines and then on the track at Imola, in the famous "Autodromo Enzo and Dino Ferrari" of Formula 1, finally on the hills of Romagna towards the Adriatic Sea with the arrival in Cesenatico. The first evening will open in the superb location of the Grand Hotel da Vinci. This will be followed by an overnight stay in Rimini.

Saturday 17 September, the second leg will see a brand new route: from Rimini towards Florence, passing through the La Calla Pass, Stia, up to the Consuma Pass, then the Chianti area, Piazza del Campo in Siena, the break in Borgo Scopeto among the tall and narrow cypress trees of the Sienese hills. In the afternoon the crews will drive along the roads of Arezzo, with the stamp controls of Montevarchi, Arezzo and Pieve Santo Stefano, towards the Viamaggio Pass.

The Republic of San Marino will welcome the event with the last group of time trials of the day and the stamp control in Piazza della Libertà, at the apex of Mount Titano.

The arrival of the second stage will be in Rimini, on the footbridge of Piazza Tre Martiri. In the evening, competitors will be treated to the traditional Gala Dinner in honour of Tazio Nuvolari, in the wonderful Fellini-style setting of the Grand Hotel di Rimini.

On Sunday 18 September, the crews will return to Mantua. The route will present them with the last challenges, the decisive ones to decide the winner. Starting from Rimini, they will face the dreaded time trials of Meldola, then Faenza, guests of the Formula 1 team Alpha Tauri. The arena of Piazza Ariostea will be the splendid view that Ferrara will offer to competitors from all over the world. It will then be the turn of the return to Mantua, through the stamp controls of Bondeno and Revere. The break for lunch will be served at the thousand-year-old castle of Castel d'Ario, the birthplace of Tazio Nuvolari, on the occasion of the 130th anniversary of his birth.
