Cristian Bonnet and Elena Solomattina opened the series of victories with their Alfa Romeo Giulietta TI winning the 6th International Rally Costa Smeralda, held on 15-16 April and the first round of the CIRM 2023, ahead of the crew of Milano Autostoriche, Beretta - Giammarino.
Reigning Italian champions Paolo Concari and Cristiano Androvandi complete the podium with their high-performance Lancia Delta 4wd. Excellent results also for other crews in the race: brothers Fabio and Paolo Verdona finished fifth, Maurizio Gandolfo and Enrico Merenda sixth, Marco Gandino and Danilo Scarcella eighth, Angelo Pasino and Patrizia Italiano eleventh.
Unlucky the champion Maurizio Verini who, with Massimo Liverani, after winning the first race had problems with the gearbox of their Fiat x 1/9 so much so that they were forced to retire.
In Verona over the weekend of 21-22 April, the Rally Due Valli was held, and alongside the 41st edition of the Cira was the Historic and the 10th edition of the Classic, which this year for the first time was run as a medium regularity event. Our Verona-based driver, Nicola Manzini, was a prophet in his homeland for once and won the race in a Lancia Beta Coupè group 3, navigated for the occasion by the 2022 Italian Champion navigator in the CIRM, Cristiano Androvandi from Piombino.
After a very beautiful and fast race, probably a stage of the CIRM 2024, the two-time European Champions and 2018 Italian Champions Paolo Mercatilj and Francesco Giammarino prevailed, while in third place were the experts Mauro Argenti- Roberta Amorosa. In fourth place was the other Grifone crew Massimo Dall'Acqua navigated by Mery Vicari.
On the same weekend, good news also came from France, where the Maurizio Aiolfi - Enrico Merenda crew won the first edition of the Menton Riviera Classic on average with the superb Peugeot 309 GTI 16v at its first racing outing.
At Mugello, our racers closed a particularly successful month of April for the team. Of particular note were the two excellent races run by the very young Vittorio Milani who, despite only a few laps in free practice, due to numerous accidents, snatched 12th place in qualifying with only two complete laps. He defended himself well in the race where he achieved an 11th and 12th place in the Mitjet Italia Championship. In the Alfa Revival Cup, the experienced Francesco Liberatore finished 14th while 18th was Francesco Ramacciotti, who raced in tandem with Massimo Ravi Pinto.
